Events

Events are randomly spawning phenomena that can affect gameplay. Some events have a constant probability of occurring, while others such as rain increase over time.

Event spawning

Events are spawned based on a global timer that counts down every ten seconds. On each timeout, every event is rolled for, with later events overriding earlier ones.

Event Independent chance of occurring Effect
Ripple spawn 50% Spawns a ripple in a random body of water
Meteor spawn 0.4% Spawns a meteor in a random body of water
Rain Starts between 0% and 0.24%, 75% chance of increasing by 0.012% every 10 seconds Spawns a rain cloud

Ripples

Ripples are a special object that periodically spawn at random locations in water. Fishing on a ripple will boost the catch rate by 2400%, which effectively causes the player to instantly hook a fish. Ripples also increase the chance of catching higher-quality fish.

Meteors

Meteor spawns are a special event that cause a Meteor to fall in a random body of water somewhere on the map. When a meteor spawns, a faint whooshing sound can be heard before it lands in the water with a loud splashing sound. A chat alert will also appear that reads "What was that...?" in green text. The location of a meteor can be identified by the white smoke plume rising off of it. When in close proximity to a meteor, the clicking sound of a Geiger counter can be heard.

When the player casts their rod on a meteor spot, catch chance is increased by 500%, and the player is guaranteed to hook an Unidentified Fish Object (provided the Fresh Lure, Salty Lure, or Magnet Lure are not equipped).

A meteor will despawn after a fish has been caught from it, or after 120 seconds.

Rain

Rain is a randomly-occuring event that causes a large raincloud to spawn over the map. Rainclouds spawn in a random location, and slowly drift through the center of the map over the course of around 9 minutes. When standing under the rain cloud, a rain particle effect appears and the air becomes noticably foggier. In addition to the visual effects, fishing in rain allows the player to catch unique rain fish.

Void Portals

Void Portals are a special event spawn that can teleport the player to the Void. No sound or chat notices are given when one spawns, but a faint howling wind noise can be heard when nearby. When the player is close enough to a portal, it can be interacted with using Keyboard e.png, upon which the player will be sent to the Void.

A Void Portal will spawn on average every 67 minutes (0.25% chance every 10 seconds), and lasts for 10 minutes before despawning.
