"Aurum" is Latin for "gold." The golden manta ray also uses the word "aurum" for its scientific name.
Further Information
While Micropterus aurum is not a valid species of bass, it is possible for Micropterus nigricans, the largemouth bass, to have a genetic mutation that alters the pigments in their skin and scales, that results in a morph referred to as "golden bass" or xanthism.[1][2]
