Further Information
The creature referred to as a "Man of War", "Man o' War", or "Bluebottle" is not in fact a species of sea jelly, but instead an ocean siphonophore, a colonial organism made of many smaller organisms called zooids.[1] Many different types of zooids make up one Man o' War, each type having a specialized purpose, such as stinging (nematocysts), digestion, buoyancy, and locomotion.[2]
