Wish to help out by editing or creating a page on the Webfishing Wiki? Make sure to read this guide and abide by the guidelines to ensure a consistent and comprehensible wiki. Do not worry about getting something wrong! Both the game itself and the wiki are a casual space, and as long as you have good intent, other people will correct your mistakes and help you out.

Make sure to also consult the wiki rules before making any changes.

Tone

As the content of this wiki is encyclopedic, we require all edits to be made in a neutral tone in order to make the wiki understandable and usable.

  • Avoid stating personal opinion as fact.
  • Use emotionally neutral language.
  • Avoid puffery or weasel words.
  • Keep information practical and usable.
  • Avoid second-person pronouns (you), and instead opt for terms such as "the player" or "players"

Grammar

To keep the wiki consistent and comprehensible, we require all grammar to be consistent and accurate.

  • Keep things concise. Prioritize conveying information accurately.
  • Capitalize proper nouns such as fish names or specific items.
  • Note: The plural form for many instances of one species of fish is "fish". For multiple species of fish, the correct plural term is "fishes".
    • The phrase "species of fish" is an exception.

Generative AI

Do NOT use generative AI to edit the wiki! While it may seem quick and efficient, AI often produces inaccurate or wholly incorrect information, which goes against what we aim to achieve as a wiki. This rule also applies to discussion and uploaded files.

If you believe you have a legitimate reason to use non-generative AI, please ask on our discord before making any permanent changes to the wiki.

Citations

Being a casual wiki, we do not necessarily require citations if information is easily verifiable, however if you wish to include them feel free as it would make the article better and more trustworthy.
